A Practitioner App That Took Animal Therapy Sessions Off Paper

MagnaWave's practitioners are independent operators, working in barns and stables on animals that belong to somebody else. Session notes came off paper, and certified guidance now reaches them in the field.

The build

MagnaWave manufactures PEMF therapy machines used on horses, livestock, show animals and companion animals, and certifies the practitioners who operate them.

Aipxperts has worked with them for roughly six years. This project delivered the mobile application those certified practitioners use in the field, along with the Laravel API and admin panel behind it.

The problem

MagnaWave's practitioners are independent operators. They travel to barns, stables and clinics, run sessions on animals that belong to somebody else, and are expected to work to the standards of a certification programme they paid to complete. Two things were missing:

Session notes lived on paper or in email

A practitioner working across multiple clients and multiple animals had no structured record, which makes continuity of treatment a memory exercise.

There was no official content in practitioners' hands

Guidelines and resources sat with head office, so what a practitioner actually did in the field drifted from what the certification taught.

That second point is the one that matters commercially. A manufacturer that certifies a network is putting its brand behind work it cannot see. Without a channel to push current guidance, the certification is a one-off event rather than an ongoing standard.

What we built

We built two halves that solve those two problems, joined by a single Laravel API.

Client and animal records

Practitioners manage the people they work for and the animals they treat, so a session attaches to a specific horse or dog rather than a name in a notebook.

Session capture with photos

Structured session records including photographic evidence, which matters for a therapy where visible change over a course of treatment is the point.

Official guidelines and resources in-app

MagnaWave content delivered to certified practitioners, so the guidance in the field is the current guidance.

Admin-driven content management

Head office updates resources from the admin panel and practitioners receive them, with no app store release in the loop.

Laravel API with JWT authentication

One backend serving both mobile platforms, hosted behind Cloudflare on the same domain as the marketing site.

The outcome

The structural change is that a certified network became a connected one. MagnaWave can now change what good practice looks like and have that reach every practitioner, which is the difference between certifying people once and maintaining a standard.

Before
session notes were kept on paper or in email, there were no in-app client records, and no official MagnaWave content reached practitioners in the field.
After
practitioners run clients, animals, photos and MagnaWave guidance from one application, with content updated centrally from the admin panel.

Planning something similar?

If you certify a network of independent operators, the app they carry is how your standards actually travel.
