Cloud Consulting Services From a Team With No Reseller Margin at Stake

Most cloud advice arrives from somebody who earns a percentage of what you end up spending. Our cloud consulting services carry no such agreement with any platform, which is why an assessment here regularly recommends moving less than you expected to move.

The Question a Cloud Assessment Is Meant to Settle

Almost every estate arrives with the destination already chosen and the reasoning never written down. Reconstructing that reasoning is most of the value.

The useful question is not which platform is best. It is which of your workloads belong somewhere other than where they are, what that would cost to run rather than to move, and what happens to the ones that stay. Answer those three and the platform argument mostly resolves itself.

Our engineers look at what each system actually does, what it depends on, what it costs today, and what it would cost after. The output is a placement decision per workload with a number attached, not a target architecture diagram. A diagram is easy to produce and impossible to hold anybody to.

A bill that grew faster than the business. A renewal date on hardware nobody wants to replace. A customer questionnaire asking where data is held. A board that has decided on cloud without deciding on anything else. Aipxperts starts each of these the same way, by pricing the current estate properly, because most of them turn out to be a cost conversation wearing an architecture costume.

Where Aipxperts Advises, and Where the Advice Stops

Each of these cloud consulting services ends in a written recommendation rather than in delivery. Where the recommendation is to proceed, the delivery is a separate engagement and is priced separately, which is the arrangement that keeps the advice honest.

Cloud Strategy and Advisory

Our consultants work out where cloud belongs in what you are trying to do commercially, over a horizon you can actually plan against. It is usually the shortest engagement and the one that prevents the most waste, and you leave with a written position on scope, sequence and the case for doing nothing yet.

Platform Selection and Workload Placement

Which workloads go where, assessed by our architects against your existing skills, your contracts and your data residency obligations rather than against a feature matrix. You get a placement decision per workload, with the run cost and the reason recorded against each.

Architecture Review and Landing Zone Design

The account structure, network boundaries, identity model and guardrails that everything after this will inherit. We design them once and properly, because getting this wrong is recoverable and expensive. You get a landing zone design your team can implement, and the list of decisions it locks in.

Cloud Cost Review and FinOps Design

Where the bill actually comes from is rarely where anybody assumes, so we trace it: tagging, allocation, rightsizing and commitment strategy, set up so cost stays attributable afterwards. You get the current bill broken down by owner, and the changes ranked by saving against effort.

Cloud Security Posture and Configuration Review

Public exposure, encryption, logging, network boundaries and the configurations that quietly drifted since somebody set them. Our architects rank the findings by exploitability and name the configuration change for each. Designing the identity and permission model itself is separate work, and it sits with cybersecurity consulting.

Second Opinion on a Proposal You Already Have

A plan from another supplier, read properly by consultants of ours with nothing to win from it, with the assumptions tested and the omissions named. You get what the proposal assumes, what it leaves out, and which questions to put back to the bidder. Cheap relative to the decision it informs.

The Advice We Gave and Whether It Was Taken

The detail worth reading on each is what the assessment advised against. A recommendation that endorses everything the client already intended is not an assessment.

Founders and Product Owners on the Assessment

The people who commissioned these cloud consulting services describe the engagement in their own words, on platforms that verify it before the review is published.

We have contracted a developer from Aipxperts now for several months, based on a referral. We have been very pleased with the quality of the work, the knowledge and skill level of our developer, and the value we're receiving for our fee. We also very much appreciate that the development team works at night (effectively), so we are sometimes able to turn client requests around in a day. There have been a couple of situations where we needed urgent help outside of our developer's normal business hours, and we've received that help (for which I am very grateful). While we have some challenges with communication sometimes, our overall satisfaction level is very high.

What Your Sector Decides Before the Architecture Does

In most sectors an obligation or a contract constrains the placement decision before any technical argument gets a vote. Establishing those constraints first is what cloud consulting services are for.

Healthcare administration

We settle where records may be held and who may reach them with your compliance function before a region is chosen, because getting it right at landing zone stage costs nothing and getting it wrong means moving data twice. More on healthcare administration.

Fintech and financial services

Data residency and audit evidence a regulator will accept, plus the exit requirement almost every financial contract now carries. The exit path gets designed into the architecture by our architects, because that requirement shapes the architecture more than it shapes the paperwork. More on fintech and financial services.

Education and EdTech

Consumption concentrates into term time and collapses in between, which makes committed-spend discounts a trap rather than a saving. Our team models the commitment strategy against the actual term curve, which is genuinely different from anywhere else on this list. More on education and EdTech.

Logistics and warehousing

Systems that talk to carriers, sites and devices, some on connections nobody would design today. Those dependencies decide placement rather than preference in our assessments, because they will decide it eventually either way. More on logistics and warehousing.

Telecom

Volumes large enough that egress and inter-region transfer become the dominant line item, not compute. We model the data movement before the workload placement, because in this sector the movement is the cost. More on telecom.

Energy and utilities

Operational systems where a change has to be reversible and demonstrably so, alongside long procurement that makes any decision hard to revisit. Assessments we run take longer here and build the reversibility evidence as they go, which is appropriate rather than slow. More on energy and utilities.

Mobile games

Costs swing by an order of magnitude between a launch week and a quiet month, which makes reserved capacity the wrong instrument for most of the estate. How much of the base load is genuinely constant is what our architects establish before recommending any commitment. More on mobile games.

What You Can Hold Us To on a Cloud Engagement

Commitments Aipxperts makes on cloud consulting services, plus one limit worth knowing before you scope anything.

01No reseller agreement sits behind any recommendationWe hold no resale arrangement with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, so nothing we advise changes what we earn. Ask every other bidder the same question and compare the answers, because it is the single most useful thing you can establish about cloud advice.

02Working depth across all three major platformsEnough experience on each to compare them honestly rather than defending the one we know. A supplier fluent in exactly one platform will find a reason it fits, and they will be sincere about it.

03Compliance is expressed as guardrails rather than as documentsAn obligation that lives only in a policy document is an obligation nobody is meeting. Where a rule can be enforced by a preventive control in the landing zone, that is where we put it.

04Cost is instrumented from the first design, not measured afterwardsTagging and allocation designed in at landing zone stage, so the bill stays attributable when it grows. Retrofitting attribution across an estate somebody already built is several times the work.

05Where the engagement stopsAt the recommendation and the design. Executing the migration and running the estate afterwards are separate engagements with separate teams, and we would rather quote them separately than bundle a decision with the work it might justify.

Situations Where You Do Not Need Cloud Consulting

Cloud consulting attracts enquiries that should not become engagements. Reading this may save you a fee, which is more useful than arguing the opposite.

A small estate with one clear ownerRoughly ten workloads and one engineer who understands all of them does not need an assessment. That person already holds the map an assessment would produce, and the money is better spent on the move itself. The decision is already made and the constraint is contractualIf a parent company has mandated a platform, or a customer contract names one, there is no placement decision left to make. Skip to the migration and let us argue about the landing zone instead.A single application, lifting and shifting, with no compliance scopeOne system, no regulated data, no interdependencies worth mapping. That is a migration task rather than a consulting engagement, and treating it as the latter adds weeks and no information. The real problem is the application rather than the platformWhere a system is slow, fragile or expensive because of how it was built, moving it changes the invoice and nothing else. This is the commonest misdiagnosis we see, and the honest recommendation is usually modernization rather than migration. And one situation where an assessment pays for itself immediatelyA bill that has grown faster than usage. That gap is almost always attribution rather than consumption, and it is measurable within days rather than weeks. When the application is the actual problem.

Standards the Design Is Built To, and What Is Not Held

An assessment reads your architecture, your bills and often your configuration. An NDA is signed before technical discovery begins, access is least-privilege and scoped to the engagement, credentials are named, time-bound and revoked at handover, and the findings, models and designs remain your property.

What the design is built toLeast privilege by default, encryption in transit and at rest, logging that survives the account it was generated in, and network boundaries that fail closed. Where your sector names a framework, the guardrails are mapped to it and the mapping is part of the deliverable.Access during the assessmentRead-only, to named accounts, for the duration and no longer. Where a configuration review needs deeper visibility, it is granted for a stated window and revoked by you rather than by us.Billing data, and why we ask for itCost analysis needs the actual bill rather than a summary. It stays in your account, we work against exports you control, and nothing is retained after the engagement closes. On badges, and the two we do not haveAipxperts holds neither ISO 27001 nor SOC 2, and holds no cloud vendor certification as an organisation. The individual experience is real and inspectable; the badges are not there. Procurement processes that require either should raise it on the first call.

How an Assessment Runs, and What Each Stage Lets You Decide

Each stage closes one decision, and the point of the sequence is that you could stop after any of them with something usable.

01Estate and dependency inventoryOur consultants catalogue every workload, what it depends on, who owns it and what it currently costs to run. It tells you whether the estate is smaller or larger than you believed, which is genuinely a coin toss.02Current cost, properly attributedWe break the bill down by workload and owner rather than by service line, which is how cloud invoices arrive and why nobody reads them. By the end you know whether you have a cost problem, an attribution problem, or neither.03Obligation and constraint mappingResidency, retention, audit and contractual exit requirements, gathered by our team from your compliance function rather than assumed. This is where options that were never actually available get ruled out, usually before anybody wastes time comparing them.04Placement decision per workloadMove, stay, retire or rebuild, with our architects recording the run cost and the reasoning against each entry. That gives you the scope of any migration and its business case in the same document.05Landing zone and guardrail designAccount structure, identity boundaries, network design and the preventive controls we design to enforce the obligations established earlier. You find out here whether your own team can implement it, or whether that is a further engagement.06Cost model and commitment strategyWhat the estate should cost once settled, and which commitments our team judges safe to make against a demand curve you can evidence. It separates the saving that is real from the saving that depends on behaviour changing.07Recommendation, sequence and the case againstOur written position, the order of work, and an honest statement of what would make this a bad idea. Not proceeding remains a legitimate answer at this stage.

Practical Questions Before Scoping an Assessment

One answer is about money and another talks you out of the engagement, and both get asked more than anything in between.

Fixed cost against a defined estate, with the price driven by workload count and how much of the estate is documented. Where nothing is documented, the inventory stage is the largest part of the work and we will say so before quoting rather than discover it afterwards.

No. Free assessments are sales instruments and they end at whatever the supplier sells. An assessment worth acting on takes real engineering time, and paying for it is what gets you a recommendation that can say no.

Weeks rather than months for a contained estate. The variable is almost never our analysis; it is how long it takes to get read access and to find the person who knows what a given system does.

Whichever the placement analysis supports, and often more than one. Multi-platform outcomes are common and unfashionable, because the honest answer is frequently that a workload should stay exactly where it is.

Yes, and it is one of the better-value engagements here. We test the assumptions, name the omissions and give you the questions to put back to them. It does not require us to bid for the work afterwards.

Then the assessment has done its job and saved you considerably more than it cost. That outcome happens often enough that the page you are reading has a whole section about it.

Your team, us, or a third party, and the design is written to be implementable by any of the three. Where we do implement, it is a separate engagement priced separately, because bundling advice with delivery is how advice stops being trustworthy.

No. Nothing we recommend affects what we earn. It is the first question worth asking any cloud advisor and it filters the field quickly.

Posture and configuration review is part of the assessment, covering exposure, encryption, logging and drift. Identity and permission model design sits with the security consulting team instead, because it is a deeper piece of work than an architecture review contains.

Design questions during implementation, yes, within an agreed window. Operating the estate afterwards is a different engagement with a different team, and we do not staff engineers outside working hours.
